Day One – Saturday
Depart the US

Your flight for Scotland departs this evening. On the way enjoy dinner and your choice of drink then catch up with a recently released movie. Prior to your arrival in Glasgow a light breakfast will be served.

Day Two – Sunday
Welcome to Glasgow

You will be met on arrival at Glasgow and transferred to your downtown hotel. Join your fellow travellers for a welcome reception at 13.00 hrs followed by a tour of Glasgow - the "dear green place" - including visits to the Transport Museum and the Burrell Art Collection. Tonight we’ll enjoy a welcome dinner in a nearby restaurant.
Overnight: Thistle Glasgow Hotel, Glasgow

Day Three – Monday
Water and Mountains

Our journey starts at Loch Lomond where we’ll stop at the fabulous Cameron House Hotel on the "Bonnie, Bonnie Banks" of Loch Lomond for morning coffee and shortbread. Our scenic drive continues through the dramatic "Rest and be Thankful" mountain pass to the pretty town of Inveraray, by Loch Fyne. Free time in the bustling port of Oban is next before we follow the Appin hills to our hotel by the banks of Loch Linnhe.
Dinner and overnight: Ballachulish Hotel, Ballachulish

Day Four - Tuesday
Murder, a Bonnie Prince & Nessie

We hear the sad story of Glen Coe as we stop to view the majestic, but sinister beauty of Scotland’s most famous Glen. Our drive continues through the Great Glen to Loch Ness. We’ll make a stop at Urquhart Castle to board a cruiser to undertake some monster hunting of our own! There’s free time in Inverness for some shopping or sightseeing before we travel to Culloden Moor, where Bonnie Prince Charlie’s army was routed by the Government troops in 1746.
Dinner and overnight: Royal Highland Hotel, Inverness

Day Five – Wednesday
Trains, Castles and the Magical Isle

It’s "all aboard" as the whistle blows to signal the start of one of the world’s unforgettable rail journeys. Enjoy spectacular views of mountains and lochs from the windows as the train heads for Kyle of Lochalsh. Rejoin our motorcoach as we cross over to the Isle of Skye for a memorable scenic drive with views of the famous Cuillin Mountains. We’ll enjoy free time in the island’s main town - Portree before returning to the mainland to visit Eilean Donan Castle.
Dinner and overnight: Royal Highland Hotel, Inverness

Day Six - Thursday
Whisky and Aberdeen

No visit to this part of Scotland would be complete without a visit to a distillery, and so we join the whisky trail to learn how "the water of life" is produced and enjoy a wee taste of the finished product! Enjoy home baking and afternoon tea when we visit a family owned Aberdeen Angus beef farm. On arrival in Aberdeen there is a panoramic city tour to enjoy, before making for our hotel.
Dinner and overnight: Maryculter House Hotel, by Aberdeen

Day Seven - Friday
Royal Deeside and St Andrews

We’ll make our way by the Royal Deeside route visiting little Crathie Kirk, where the Royal Family worships when staying at nearby Balmoral Castle. Then it’s through dramatic Glen Shee to the gentle Perthshire countryside beyond. In St Andrews, the home of golf, there is time to visit the Ancient University, the Cathedral, the famed Old Course - or simply shop - before continuing over the Forth Road Bridge into Edinburgh. For those whose holiday begins between 27 July and 17 August there is a visit to the famed Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Overnight: Roxburghe Hotel, Edinburgh

Day Eight – Saturday
Edinburgh awaits

After breakfast we join our coach for a morning tour of Scotland’s Capital City. We’ll discover the grandeur of the Georgian "New Town" and hear tales of murder and mystery as we visit the famous Royal Mile. The highlight is a visit to Edinburgh Castle, where we can see the Scottish Crown Jewels and enjoy panoramic views over the Edinburgh skyline. Our tour is timed so that you can be present at the firing of the famous 1 o’clock gun – used as a time signal throughout the city. The remainder of today is free for individual sightseeing and/or shopping.
Overnight: Roxburghe Hotel, Edinburgh

Day Nine – Sunday
The End of the Road

We say a sad goodbye to our new friends as our tour ends after breakfast with a 09:00 hrs transfer to Glasgow Airport. You will arrive in the United States later today.
Haste ye back!
