Enjoy some of Scotland's most beautiful lochs,
glens and mountains on this scenic tour.
Our journey from Edinburgh takes us first to Glasgow
then to the "Bonnie, Bonnie Banks" of
Loch Lomond where well stop in the pretty
village of Luss with its panoramic loch-side vistas.
Our drive continues through Glen Lochy and the
Pass of Brander to visit Dunstaffnage Castle.
Next is Oban, a picturesque fishing port set on
the Firth of Lorne. We will have plenty of time
to discover this bustling town for ourselves.
From Oban we travel past romantic Kilchurn Castle,
which stands guard at the head of Loch Awe.
The 3rd Duke of Argyll built the "new"
town of Inveraray between 1746 and 1780 at the
head of Loch Fyne and in the shadow of his castle.
Today this picturesque town retains its 18th Century
charm, as we'll discover.
Our journey homewards takes us by way of Loch
Long and over the "Rest and be Thankful"
mountain pass to Glasgow and then to Edinburgh.
Dunstaffnage Castle This ancient castle is said
to have been built around 1260 and was the stronghold
of the Clan MacDougall. Robert the Bruce captured
the castle during the Wars of Independence and
it was where Flora MacDonald was held prisoner
after she helped Bonnie Prince Charlie to escape
in 1746. Take time to visit the creepy ruins of
the nearby chapel look out for the carved
skulls watching you!
