This two day tour will let you explore one of
Scotland’s most popular cities, at your own pace;
go monster spotting by Loch Ness and see some
spectacular scenery. This really is essential
Scotland!
Day One
Departing from Edinburgh we make our way towards
Stirling then through the Pass of Leny to “Bonnie
Strathyre”. We travel over lonely Rannoch Moor and
into Glen Coe, Scotland’s most famous glen and the
scene of the terrible massacre in 1692. From Fort
William the dramatic scenery of the Great Glen
unfolds ahead of us – first Loch Lochy, then Loch
Oich and finally Loch Ness. We will enjoy a drive
along the banks of Loch Ness, stopping to visit
Urquhart Castle with its panoramic lochside views
– it is a popular spot with “Nessie” spotters, so
keep a careful watch out. Shortly we will arrive
in Inverness, our home for tonight.
Overnight: The Royal
Highland Hotel/The Columba Hotel, Inverness or
similar
Day Two
After a leisurely breakfast this morning there is
free time in Inverness for shopping or
sightseeing. Later join your motorcoach for the
return journey to Edinburgh. From Inverness we’ll
make our way through the gentle Spey Valley then
on through stunning scenery as we drive through
the Drumochter Pass. Keep a close watch for the
deer that often come down to the roadside to
graze. We’ll stop in the popular Victorian resort
of Pitlochry, nestling on the banks of the River
Tummel. From Perth we drive through the “Kingdom”
of Fife then over the Forth Road Bridge to
journey’s end in Edinburgh.
