Itinerary

This very special three-day tour combines a relaxing two night stay in Inverness and will show you some of Scotland’s finest scenery, including a wonderful full-day excursion to the fabled Isle of Skye!

Day One
Departing from Edinburgh we make our way towards Stirling then through the Pass of Leny to “Bonnie Strathyre”. From Tyndrum it’s over lonely Rannoch Moor and into the awesome beauty of Glen Coe, scene of the infamous massacre in 1692. From Fort William the dramatic scenery of the Great Glen unfolds ahead of us – first Loch Lochy, then Loch Oich and finally Loch Ness. We will enjoy a drive along the banks of Loch Ness, stopping to visit Urquhart Castle with its panoramic lochside views – it is a popular spot with “Nessie” spotters, so keep a careful watch out, just in case! Shortly we will arrive in Inverness, our home for the next two nights.

Overnight: The Royal Highland Hotel/The Columba hotel, Inverness or similar

Day Two
Today we enjoy the highlight of our tour - a full day excursion to the beautiful island of Skye by mini-coach. We’ll visit Eilean Donan Castle, perched on its island at the head of Loch Duich. You will marvel at the views of Skye from the ramparts when we visit this most picturesque of castles. Soon we’ll be crossing “over the sea to Skye” and visiting the beautiful gardens of the Clan Donald Centre before enjoying the dramatic scenery of the famed Cuillin Mountains. Later we will have time for some beach combing before returning to Inverness.

Overnight: The Royal Highland Hotel/The Columba hotel, Inverness or similar

Day Three
After a leisurely breakfast the morning is free in Inverness for shopping or sightseeing. Later join your motorcoach for the return journey to Edinburgh. From Inverness we’ll make our way to the gentle Spey Valley then on through the dramatic scenery of the Drumochter Pass - as we do keep a close watch for the deer that often come down to the roadside to graze. We’ll make a stop in the popular Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, nestling on the banks of the River Tummel. From Perth we drive through the “Kingdom” of Fife then over the Forth Road Bridge to journey’s end in Edinburgh.
